Since its inception in 2018 as a home-based business and "passion project", GROW has consistently worked to address the critical issue of the digital divide—the unequal access to digital technology that disproportionately impacts rural and economically disadvantaged communities.
In March 2023
We grew to increase GROW's employment services as a solution to decrease socioeconomic hardships due to digital discrimination.
Recognizing the growing need for a public office location, community outreach, and higher engagement, GROW moved to a commercial space.
This move was a significant milestone in our evolution, allowing us to scale our operations, provide more accessible services, and amplify our efforts to bridge the"digital divide".
GROW collaborated with Halifax-Northampton Habitat for Humanity to facilitate credit education and financial literacy training, and a program addressing the barriers preventing underrepresented groups from achieving homeownership.
GROW launched the Credit Smart School to further support the local Habitat for Humanity’s project and HFH International’s Advancing Black Homeownership Initiative.
COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
At the core of GROW's mission is the creation of a supportive environment through various community connections.
In January 2024
GROW co-facilitated a homebuyer’s event with Movement Mortgage of Charlotte, NC and recruited a panel of community leaders, industry professionals, nonprofit organizations, and government entities to create an ecosystem to foster collaboration and create a collective impact on increasing homeownership rates within minority communities.
The newly created homeowner’s alliance focuses on promoting homeownership particularly within black and brown communities, by providing education, resources, and collaborative platforms.
GROW is helping to address a significant obstacle faced by Black homebuyers in the low-wealth community: the lack of credit or access to credit.
We provide education, resources, and collaborative platforms to encourage individuals to start their journey towards homeownership.
In July 2024
We moved to a larger location. As part of this transformation, GROW established the Community Connections Hub, with a collaboration of three (3) nonprofit organizations. Together, we work to serve the community, leveraging our combined resources.
This move was a significant growth spurt allowing us to become a training location for a senior employment program, and amplify our efforts to fostering economic growth, and empowering individuals with vital skills.
Our commercial presence and collaborative efforts underscore our unwavering commitment to the community at large and fulfill our vision and mission.
