COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

THE PIVOTAL YEAR

In March 2023

Recognizing the need for a public space to enhance community outreach and engagement, GROW moved to a commercial location.

After five years of operating from home, this shift marked a pivotal milestone—a 12-year dream realized. Now, we are expanding our efforts to build a Technology support system for the community.

Empowering Through Growth and Collaboration

In January 2024

GROW co-facilitated a homebuyer’s event (GRAB THE KEY) with Movement Mortgage of Charlotte, NC and recruited a panel of community leaders, industry professionals, nonprofit organizations, and government entities to create an ecosystem to foster collaboration and create a collective impact on increasing homeownership rates within minority communities.

The newly created homeowner’s alliance focuses on promoting homeownership particularly within black and brown communities, by providing education, resources, and collaborative platforms.

GROW is helping to address a significant obstacle faced by homebuyers in the low-wealth community: the lack of credit or access to credit.

We provide education, resources, and collaborative platforms to encourage individuals to start their journey towards homeownership.

In January 2024

GROW registered with the NC Secretary of State as a nonprofit organization to facilitate an agreement with the USDA, aiming to administer applications from seniors aged 62 and above for home repairs through the Single-Family Housing Repair Loans & Grants program in North Carolina.

In July 2024

We moved to a larger location and established the Community Connections Hub, a collaborative initiative uniting three (3) nonprofit organizations.

Together, we pool our resources and expertise to better serve the community, fostering growth, opportunity, and resilience.

In alignment with our mission, we expanded our capacity to provide enhanced employment services, addressing socioeconomic hardships.

This move was a significant growth spurt allowing us to become a training location for a senior employment program, and amplify our efforts to fostering economic growth, and empowering individuals with vital skills.

Our commercial presence and collaborative efforts underscore our unwavering commitment to the community at large and fulfill our vision and mission.
